“I was nervous when I first started working with Lara because I really hadn't done any strength training in over 2 years and I was pretty out of shape. It takes a lot to be vulnerable with someone I've never met before, especially when I was not comfortable with my body or where I was physically. I was also intimidated working out in an open gym because there were other people who could witness my perceived physical ineptness.
I would highly recommend working with Lara. I feel that she truly cares about my goals and progress and goes above and beyond when she designs programs. She provides a truly personalized training experience, taking into account my fitness level, the idiosyncrasies of my body, and my frequent travel; in addition to our sessions, she provides recommendations for working out and stretching on my own. Additionally, Lara has a wealth of knowledge on the unique needs of women who want to strength train and she expertly applies this to the programming she designs for me. She takes time to explain and demonstrate the exercises in my programs and often provides additional background as to what muscles we are working and why she has chosen specific exercises. I've learned a lot from her over the time we've worked together, and she's great at mixing things up so I'm never bored, but continue to work toward my goals. Lara also happens to be a pretty wonderful human--she has earned my trust and I genuinely enjoy our sessions (even the terrible stretches she makes me do). :) She has not only helped me to become stronger physically, but working with her has also improved my confidence, and for that I am truly grateful.”

“I decided to join a gym for the first time after moving to Seattle last year. I was very overweight, out of shape, and more than a little intimidated by everything. I also had lower back issues and was afraid that lifting heavy weights would cause further injury.
Lara was patient, kind, and non-judgmental. She helped me feel comfortable with the equipment and created a series of progressive personal routines that are challenging, appropriate for my level, and took my physical limitations into account.”

“I had some reservations, I was worried that it would too complicated for me to perform learn new exercises or that I would feel too frustrated to stick with a specific program. I was also worried that I could injury myself. My top goals when starting training were to prevent further back injuries at work and to improve my overall strength/functioning.
Lara was great, she clearly listened to my goals, and made all the exercises feel very accessible by breaking them down into small steps and coming up with easy reminders to how to perform them correctly.”

“I have always been intimidated by gyms, and I didn't even know where to start with building a strength routine. Moving beyond classes and cardio felt very overwhelming.
Lara helped me learn how to use the various strength machines and free weights, and designed programs that I could easily stick too. She really listened to what I was looking for and what I did or didn't like and helped me build a routine around that. Since I started working with her, I feel like I know what I'm doing and I'm much more confident in using the weights area of the gym.”

“Lara is open and very good at adapting her training to accommodate different skill levels (complete novice in my case). I would use four words to describe Lara and her approach: knowledgeable, approachable, dedicated, and engaged.”

“I wasn't sure [personal training] would be worth the cost and I was concerned that my trainer wouldn't understand my goals. Lara was supportive of what I was doing and my training goals for the future.
I wasn't sure I wanted to compete when I started but now I'm sure I do on some level! If you already have training goals in mind, Lara will help you refine them!”
