How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club? Just about 4 years - I left for a few months to focus on climbing, but ultimately came back after I got a repetitive injury.
What is your favorite piece of equipment or exercise to do in the gym? I’d say it’s a toss up between dead-lifts and pull-ups. While they are both difficult I find them really satisfying in different ways.
Why do you work out? I work out because it helps provide structure and stability for the other aspects of my life. It helps me feel better mentally and emotionally and those endorphins help me get through my work day much easier!
What do you do to work out? Primarily lifting weights with a focus on full body & functional movement. I'm definitely trying to get better at integrating cardio consistently.
What in the gym has worked for you in attaining your goals? I've been participating in the Small Group Training classes (formerly GRIT) and that programming has been an immense help with allowing me to achieve my goals. We're always doing different exercises and the accountability that comes from the class community has been invaluable!
Why do you choose to work out at BHC? I initially chose if for the proximity to where I live and available hours, then I stuck with it because of the friendly atmosphere and quality and variety of the equipment available.
