  1. How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club?

I think 6 years; we joined shortly after we moved to Ballard in 2015

  2. What is your favorite piece of equipment or exercise to do in the gym?

I like the elliptical. Easy on knees and hips, but a good cardio workout.

  3. Why do you work out?

I’ve always kind of struggled with putting on or carrying a little too much weight. I’m now at a right weight for my height. Regular exercise helps me maintain that. And as a guy who played sports, I just kind of like the gym atmosphere. Also gets me out of my wife’s hair for a while each day.

  4. What do you do to work out?

Since COVID re-opening I’ve mostly been doing a combination of cardio machines for 45 to 50 minutes. I’m due for an appointment with a trainer to mix it up and get a little more challenge in my workout, probably adding back in some weights

  5. What in the gym has worked for you in attaining your goals?

Yes, the sessions with fitness trainers to go over what I was doing, my goals and get some changes and new exercises has been really great.

  6. Why do you choose to work out at BHC?

I really love the low-key atmosphere of BHC. Not pretentious, not a chain, community based. Staff people are very nice and knowledgeable.

  7. Anything else you'd like to add?

I thought Pat and the team did a great job handling COVID, never pushing too hard or too fast to open, but giving us ways to get in and get a work out. Also I’ve just enjoyed the fitness staff over the years. People come and go, but it’s fun to get to know them a little bit as they, mostly young people, make their way in life.
