Winter / Spring 2024 Main Gym Improvements

This web page is to share plans with our members of things we are doing at the Club currently to improve the Main Gym. Some of these are projects are complete but many are still in the planning or implementation stages. We greatly welcome any feedback or comments on what we are doing. You can do so by clicking <HERE> for our suggestion form.

Other than removing the old lat pulldown machine and the old lat row machine, that have been replaced by 2 lat pulldowns and 2 lat row stations on the new Life Fitness Jungle, no other items are planned to be removed from the Main Gym. We do plan on repurposing the older cable cross machine as you can read below. During these changes, It may be a bit of shock to not have a piece of equipment where you expect it, but then look around the gym and you will find it. And again, this is all to improve the layout and function of the Main Gym.

The intent of the changes we are making is to:

  • Make more floor space for members for function training.

  • Add more workout stations and options while not crowding equipment in the gym.

  • Making space for newer and/or additonal equipment based on members requests

  • Enhance our members experience while using the Main Gym at the Club.

List of currently planned or complete enhancements :

(click on title of enhancment to get detail) :

  • Install Rubber Flooring over existing wood floor on main gym. This reduces sound, allows for betting cleaning and uniform look to the main gym. This also provides a uniformed level floor for installing new equipment

  • Put all similar items together to make more efficient use of the space and a better experience for our members. This also prepares for the arrival of new treadmills.

  • Installed 10 new Precor Treadmills in the Cardio Area and a single treadmill in the Personal Training Studio

  • Took delivery of a new Free Motion CoachBike to have members check it out before considering purchasing additional units

  • This 8 station cable based workout unit includes 2 lat pull downs, 2 lat rows, a 190 lb tricep pushdown, adjustable multi-use pulley, and a cable cross with 2 adjustable multi-use pulleys. The unit was installed in the middle part of the gym to make more use of that area.

  • Installed floor rack for fixed weight bars and wall rack for foam rollers.

  • Replaced all black flooring workout mats on the main floor with new mats from Power Systems

  • Our original plan was to remove 5 machines from the gym floor that we felt were replaced by the new 8 station Life Fitness Jungle. After member feedback we have decided to instead just remove 2 of the machines (lat pulldown and lat row) and make use of the older machines in the new main gym layout.

  • AppAudio is an App to put on a phone that then connects to whatever TV someone wants to listen to at the Club. AppAudio is a free app on the Apple Store or Google Play site. Signs will be put up in the Cardio area showing this new benefit.

  • Move the black Rogue rack from the wall that is next to the cardio area to the other side (right) near the dumbbell area. Then move the smith machine in its place but push to the left of that wall area. The intent is to make room for possible new equipment in the spot the smith machine resides in now.

  • The white leg press machine that is near the entrance to Studio Z will be moved to the opposite corner of the main gym into the NW corner of the free weight area. It will end up to the right of the new spot of the smith machine. The intent of this move is to put plate based machines together and not have to have as many weight trees (racks for plates) taking up space in the gym. This also frees up space for traffic flow near Studio Z when the cycling area in established.

  • The glute / ham raise will end up to the left of the newly relocted smith machine. The intent is to consolidate plate based machines together.

  • Remove old cable cross machine to make room for machine relocation changes. Also to prepare parts of machine for reinstallation in the gym

  • The original plan was to sell the old cable cross unit and remove it to make more room on the gym floor. We have since decided to convert the old cable cross machine into 2 separate wall mounted cable machines. We will do this by removing the top bar connecting the 2 sides and then removing the bases of the 2 sides. After that we will construct a mount to enable us to bolt the 2 now seperated cable machines on to a column on the gym floor. This gives us 2 more workout / cable stations while requiring very little floor space to enable it.

  • Once the cable cross machine (to be repurposed) has been removed between the 2 columns closest to the wide entrance to Studio Y, Move the Assisted Pullup Machine and Captions Chair to the area vacated by the cable cross nearer to the column closest to the dumbbell racks. This will help expand the dumbbell area and make it less crowded.

  • This is to make the kettlebells always accessible including when Studio X is closed for a class.

  • Studio X has 3 doors leading into it. 2 regular sized doorways and the large opening with a roll up door. Studio X is seldom closed for a class, but when it is there needs to be another exit beside the large roll up door. That additional exit will be the door that is in the dumbbell area. With that said, we can close off the door closer to the locker rooms and this will allow for more floor space on the wall between Studio Z and the large opening to Studio X. We plan on adding several more spinning like bikes on that new flooring area.

  • Repurpose the existing TV facing the main gym in Studio Y and then get a larger TV to install in its place. Together with AppAudio, members can listen and experience a TV show or sporting event while working out.

  • With the door walled-in for Studio X, and machines moved away from the area to make more room. Establish the place to set multiple spining type bikes on the gym side of Studio X

  • Select, purchase and install several spinning style bikes in the new cycling area outside Studio X
