How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club? I have no idea, it's been at least 10 years, maybe more!
What is your favorite piece of equipment or exercise to do in the gym? I guess "smart bells", as Karen calls them, kettlebells and barbells would be my favorite piece of equipment, although I also like the TRX. I like having a variety of exercises because I get bored easily.
Why do you work out? I work out so that I can eat what I want! I have always loved to be active outside, so working out is my way to stay active when I don't have as much time to get outside. It also helps me stay in shape when I do have time to be active outdoors.
What do you do to work out? I love the Boot Camp classes. I started taking them when Aeron started them many years ago. Some of us have been in these classes since the beginning. I like someone telling me what to do so that I don't have to think about it, and every workout is different. I also like BodyPump and Barre.
What in the gym has worked for you in attaining your goals? The variety and timing of the classes. There are usually classes that fit into my schedule, I just have to get to them!
Why do you choose to work out at BHC? It's not pretentious, it’s simple and friendly. BHC has a great atmosphere, supportive staff, enough variety and new opportunities.
Anything else you'd like to add? The local ownership is huge for me. This is no factory workout, the owner and staff are super dedicated to listening to members and adapting to changing needs. I just recently went through cancer treatment, and kept at it the best I could. The support I received from staff and fellow boot camp participants was so wonderful and helped me get through it with flying colors.
