Member Spotlight - Joseph Jessup

How long have you been a member at Ballard Health Club? 

I'm not sure.  Something like 3-4 years.

What is your favorite piece of equipment or exercise to do in the gym? 

I'll be really boring, and say the bench press. It always makes me feel strong, and hasn't felt awkward to me for as long as I can remember.   

Why do you work out? 

General overall health.  I also specifically like working our first thing in the morning, because it helps me feel energized and focused throughout the day.  

 What do you do to work out?

Mostly strength training at Ballard Health Club, but supplemented with cardio oriented sports activities, like basketball, boxing, or ultimate frisbee.  

What in the gym has worked for you in attaining your goals?

Having a regular schedule with an appointment I need to make every morning has been the thing that helps nudge me into working out even on the days when I don't feel like it.  When there is someone expecting you to be there, it makes it harder to skip a day.  

 Why do you choose to work out at BHC?

It's only a 10 min walk from my home, and I love how big the facility is and that it always seems to have the equipment I need.

 Anything else you'd like to add?

I love having such a great health club so near to where I live.
