Ballard Health Club Membership Rate Change

December 31, 2022

Dear Members,

Thank you for being a member of Ballard Health Club. Your patronage has kept the Club alive despite all that life has thrown at us these past few years. During that time, the costs to run the business have gone up considerably and we have not changed our membership rates for many years. Our main expense is labor, and we continue to pay a competitive wage to retain and compensate our staff. It is now necessary to increase our membership rates to continue to provide the level of service required to operate the business.

For existing members, all monthly membership rates will be going up by $10 a month and the annual membership will increase by $100 starting February 1, 2023.

Members with annual memberships will not pay the increase until their memberships expire.

If you purchased a membership prior to December 25, 2022 and it is currently active or frozen, you may purchase an annual membership at the old annual rates until January 31, 2023. This includes converting a month-to-month membership to an annual membership or adding an additional year to a current annual membership.

The new rates have been in place since December 25, 2022 for new memberships.

Here are some changes we have made to memberships:

• Basic memberships will have unlimited gym visits (was a maximum of 4 a week)

• We will retain Friendly Fridays for all memberships where a member may bring a guest to the Club or to a class for free on Fridays.

• A new benefit to PLUS members is that they may bring a guest for one half the drop-in rate ($10) Monday through Thursday and a guest for free on Saturday and Sunday in addition to Friendly Fridays.

• Fitness Training sessions are being replaced with a discounted Personal Training session for $25 that all members may use once annually. This change was necessary to compensate our personal trainers properly for the services they are providing and allow us to keep and retain the best trainers in Seattle. The price for a single personal training session is normally $80.

To request a change to your membership – you may do that on the BHC website at > www.ballardhealthclub.com/member-services

The price increases are not related to the recent remodel we have done at the club which will provide a dedicated space for personal training. Not only will this improve the experience of personal training but also the experience for all members as there will be less need to use the main gym for personal training sessions.

Our parking rates will not be changing with this membership rate change. We are in the process of expanding our parking availability and that looks promising. We were caught a bit off guard with the abrupt start of the apartment development at our old parking lot that was originally delayed. We have parking at the Commons Building and at Chase Bank and free parking on the street within a few blocks from the Club.

If you have questions about the new prices or membership changes, please feel free to email me.

Thank you for being a part of Ballard Health Club. We are committed to providing you with a quality environment to enable you to continue with your fitness goals.

Sincerely,

Pat Gilbrough
