Remodel progress and moving a special floor

November 2, 2022

Dear Members,

I have lived in Seattle all my life (which is a pretty long time now) and I’ve never been so thankful to see the rains come after our extended summer weather. We can breathe again!  We do have filters on our air system that help reduce the smoke particles in the air at the Club, but as we all know, the amount of smoke pollution in the air was very intense and it’s so nice to have our air all cleaned up by the rain!

We hope to be in our last month of work to complete the remodel that is creating our new Training Studio and updated Studio Y. This coming week we are at the point to start adding lighting to both the new space that Studio Y is absorbing and the new Personal Training Studio that you see through the windows as you enter the Club.  The goal is to make Studio Y and the Training Studio fully operational by December 1st.

In this remodel, Studio Y will remain 32 feet wide as it was in the past (but now all 20 feet tall). We are shifting the location of the studio toward 22nd Ave by 16 feet thus making more room for the new Personal Training Studio which will absorb 16 feet of the old Studio Y.  There is a special type of “spring floor” in Studio Y that has several layers that start with a rubber base. This reduces the impact on those using the studio when doing aerobic type of exercises. In our efforts to save and reuse as much as possible during this remodel and make the most of this special floor, we will be picking up the 16 feet of floor on one side of the Studio and moving it to the other side where the Studio is shifting over to.  The relocated “spring floor” will become the subfloor for a new floor that will be installed over the top of it.

I do want to thank our members attending our growing classes while this remodeling has been going on and their flexibility in using other locations in the Club for their classes when needed.   I also want to thank those class instructors and our staff for their teamwork in making all this happen for our members.

It’s hard to believe it’s already November and this year has been going by so fast. I believe the time has flowed by because so many are looking to the future and each day is better than the day before.

I look forward to seeing you at the Club!
