COVID Omicron and Club facility is expanding for Personal Training

January 4, 2022

Dear Members,

The Omicron variant of COVID is certainly the key item on everyone’s mind right now. We feel we have done a good job in keeping members and staff as safe as possible at the Club throughout our long history with COVID. We also understand that we are now in the most contagious period of COVID that we’ve experienced, and as such we will continue to keep these safety measures a primary focus.

A few months ago, King County and Washington State removed social distancing requirements if people were vaccinated. Even though there is currently not a government rule in place for social distancing for gyms, we are re-implementing the 6-foot rule at Ballard Health Club regardless of someone’s vaccination status. As soon as signs are up during the first week in January, a person may not start the use of a cardio or strength machine that is immediately next to another machine in use by another member. Distancing is also to be in place when working out on mats and/or benches.

Masks must be worn 100% of the time by everyone in the Club and must be worn correctly, completely covering the nose and mouth.

We keep a constant stream of fresh air coming through the club day and night, and the many fans we have set up around the club keeps this air circulating nonstop. The intent is to prevent any spaces from retaining pockets of air that may be shared between people.

We know how important it is for our members to have a place like BHC to go to for their mental and physical health, and we are continuing to be diligent in our efforts to make it safe for all.

On another topic, I mentioned how Personal Training has grown at the Club in our last newsletter.  I am happy to say that we have now secured the use of space on the 2nd floor of the building to expand into for Personal Training.  This will be our designated Personal Training Studio. This new studio will also be used for Small Group Training (“SGT”) sessions.  We have been holding SGT sessions in Studio X and when doing so, have needed to ask members to vacate the space. With the use of the new Personal Training Studio, we will no longer have to interrupt member’s use of Studio X.

This Personal Training Studio area was used by BHC up to early 2020 and then was given up during COVID and was going to be office space. That plan changed and now we are able to make the most of it with our growing Personal Training offerings. With the rearrangement of equipment, we will be able to add an additional rack to the gym floor and Studio X, which will bring the total number of available racks up to 6,  not including the Smith machine.

Thank you for being a member of Ballard Health Club. We very much look forward to serving you in 2022.

Sincerely,

Pat Gilbrough
