Spring is here! So are lots of new classes!

3/31/23

Dear Members,

You know that we have added a lot of yoga classes since the first of the year. In April we are adding several more classes in Studio Y.

We know that you have been eager to take Zumba classes. Fortunately, Maria is now available to teach again at BHC. She will offer a hybrid class on Saturdays at noon starting on April 1st. Personally, I love Maria’s music and her choreography.

Another weekend opportunity will be on Sundays with Ivana. Many of you already love her Circuit Strength and Barre classes. Now you can enjoy her Sunday Shred class 9:45-10:30 starting on April 2nd. This one will make you enjoy working up a sweat.

Shannon will start offering a pop-up class, a half-hour Body Sculpt on Mondays and Wednesdays 8:15-8:45 before her Cycling classes on Monday, April 3rd. Rachel will return to BHC with a Cardio Sculpt class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9:30-10:30 starting on Tuesday, April 18th. This conditioning will enable you to build muscle and increase endurance in ways that other classes do not.

Since Barre classes have significantly gained popularity, we are adding one on Wednesdays at noon. It will be my pleasure to teach this one starting on April 5th. I haven’t taught Barre on a regular basis at BHC since before the pandemic.

Anne-Marie and Courtney are also adding Cycling classes on Sunday mornings at 9:00 and on Monday afternoons at 5:30 respectively. Now that spring is here, we want you to have a variety of options for gaining strength, stamina, and flexibility.

As if that were not enough good news, please also mark your calendars for a workshop with MJ in June. Her Solstice Restorative Yoga and Sound Bath event will be on Sunday, June 24th 3:30-5:00 p.m. The acoustics in our new Studio Y should make that amazing.

The only disappointing news that I have to share is that Taylor, our wonderful Dance Fitness instructor, will be able to offer her class for only a few more weeks. We are sorry to see Taylor go and hopeful that she will be able to return to us one day. Before you grieve the loss too deeply, please consider trying a new class on Thursday, April 20th 7:00-8:00 p.m. called PomSquad Ftiness. As described by Emily Rood, who will offer the class, “PomSquad Fitness combines cardio, strength-training, and choreography in a high-energy class that caters to all fitness and skill levels.” It is free, so please give it a try and let us know what you think of it.

I feel deeply grateful to our instructors for their creativity, ingenuity, and hard work. Likewise, I appreciate all the input that members have offered. In my opinion, BHC is growing and evolving in the best possible ways.

Warmly,
Marianne Clarke
Class Director
