Never a Dull Moment

October 2, 2022

It has been so fun to get to know the Operations staff and learn more about how the Ballard Health Club works.  Thanks for your continued support and encouraging words about my new role.  I also appreciate your suggestions.

There are a couple of messages that have come through loud and clear to me.  One is that many members want online classes to continue to be offered.  They will be.  The other is that many members want more classes to be available at the gym.  They will be.  As you can see, we have several new classes – some online, some in-person, and some hybrid.  There will be more yoga, more BodyPump, and a brand new class from Lara.  (Hooray!  She’s back.)

Amid all this, we are moving full steam ahead on the remodel of Studio Y.  BHC members have exhibited their typical flexibility and patience as we have relocated classes on weekends and gradually dismantled Studio Y.  While Studio Y remains fully functional for weekday classes, students attending those classes have been able to track the progress of the demolition week to week as different components of the room disappear.  We will keep working hard to minimize the disruption of classes and move forward on the construction at the same time.  This juggling act is keeping us nimble.  It’s never dull at BHC.

There will also be free classes available from BHC outside the gym in October.  Under the auspices of The Ballard Alliance, we are offering classes near the library entrance (or inside the library as weather dictates) in October.  Watch for the schedule that will be posted at the club and on the door of the Ballard Library.  These classes are free to the community, so please invite your friends and enjoy some fresh air while you exercise.  Maybe you’d like to try something new like Tabata with Lisa Rider on Saturday, October 15 9:00-10:00 a.m. Or maybe Chair Yoga with Amanda Mack on Saturday, October 22. or Shannon Down’s Body Works class on Saturday, October 29 . Both 10:00-11:00 am.

Enjoy this beautiful transition into fall weather!

Warmest regards,

Marianne Clarke
