When Ballard Health Club first started offering yoga classes in 1998, there were very few yoga studios in Seattle. Many of our teachers have over 10 years of experience, and all of them have completed at least 200 or 500 hours of training. We offer quality classes that you would typically only find in a high-priced specialty yoga studio.

Whether you are a completely new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, there is a class for all levels at BHC. We invite you to explore all of our yoga classes, from restorative classes like Yoga Wind Down or Yoga Tune Up to the more physically demanding Power Vinyasa Yoga. See below for all of our yoga class descriptions, schedule, and instructor profiles.


Flow Yoga: This is a Vinyasa style yoga class that links posture and breath together within a series of sequential movements. This process generates heat in the body and helps to build muscular strength and better flexibility. Yoga experience is helpful.

Kundalini Yoga: This uplifting yoga class blends postures with movement, dynamic breathing techniques, mudras, mantras, and meditation. The goal is to build physical vitality, facilitate self-healing, and elevate the spirit. This is yoga for everyday life, and every person.

Open Yoga: This is a Hatha style yoga class in an open level class format. The focus is on supporting you as you go deeper into your practice of Yoga. You will work on poses, breathing and being in your body as you move at your own level. Some yoga experience is helpful.

Power Vinyasa Yoga: This challenging, yet unhurried, class pays particular attention to matching dynamic movement from pose to pose with the power of slow, ujjayi breath.  This class will be accompanied by music that is mindfully selected to follow the arc of the class sequence.

Rebel Yoga: Balancing strength training and the thousand year old tradition of yoga asana, this class is for both the novice and experienced yogi. The yogic combination of breath and mindfulness along with the repetition of resistance training will create better body awareness, physical and mental well being and strengthen and tone your upper body. 

Yoga Basics: This is a Hatha style yoga for beginners. This class moves slowly, breaking down poses and working on proper body alignment and breathing techniques. No experience needed.

Yoga Basics ll: This Hatha style yoga class is the next step up from Yoga Basics. This class moves more quickly while still focusing on proper body alignment and breathing techniques. Some experience is helpful.

Yoga Tune-Up: Yoga Tune Up® is a fitness therapy format built around the three P’s – Pain, Posture and Performance. It helps eradicate pain, improve posture and enhance performance through a unique blend of Corrective Exercise, Self Massage and Yoga. By helping to identify and target your “body blind spots”; areas that are most overused, underused, or misused, YTU heals damaged muscle, increases strength and establishes healthy movement patterns to help you live better in your body.”

Yoga Wind Down: This is our end of the weekend wind down class. Come and do an hour of invigorating yet relaxing poses and start the week out right.
